CIHS Exhibit 2012

Through Artist’s Eyes

This exhibit of Chebeague Island artists and creators demonstrated how the island’s wonderful atmosphere and scenery had inspired artists both professional and amateur. The show endeavored to present the works of as many of these summer and year round residents as is possible with the space available.
The exhibit began with Thomas F. O’Neill, born in 1852, and continued through the beginning of the 21st century. No living artists were included. The artists chosen each had their own individual and creative styles used one or several of the following mediums: oils, watercolors, pastels, pencil, pen and ink, and wood or linoleum block cutting. With their skills, these artists expressed their delight with being on Chebeague Island in winter and summer and in storm and sunshine.
